(Into and) Out of This World investigates the illusory and porous boundary between visual/virtual and physical space, and the broadcasting of experience, language and ideas that can be both hurled across and embedded within it. In dealing with the problem of this boundary, the exhibition looks into various aspects of Geography, such as architecture, mapping and “real” space/virtual space translations. This also means to negotiate the terms of Geography - trying to rearrange ideas of creating and prohibiting access, movement and border constructs. With this, there is an exploration going on, that is about the real-world making and process of dealing with “both sides.” About the residue of the translation between the two planes. The glitches.
The artists’ works span a network of screen-spaces in the city from south to north, presenting works that deal with some sort of digital mediation. At each site sculptural flower manifestations, by artist Freja Gøtke, bloom as a tactile Marguerite route, a living then decaying guide that connects the physical spaces with the virtual. The flowers are re-creations from films, and their origin scenes can be found by each of them.
